Our Mission statement

The Belen Art League is composed of people who share an interest in promoting and encouraging art in all its forms. We provide a place for local artists to display their work and an opportunity to teach classes about their art. We want to educate and support future artists in our community. We embrace traditional art forms and non-traditional. Painting, sculpture, fiber art, wood, metal, and jewelry all have a place at our table. We strive to sponsor community events that delight and enrich our town and our neighbors. In short, WE CELEBRATE ART! Please visit our gallery/gift shop! The Belen Art League started in 1956 with artists meeting at private homes, focusing on presentations and discussions on how to polish their art skills. In about the year 2000, Lorraine Dotty, working with the City of Belen, leased the building where the Belen Art League is currently located. The Belen Art League is in its 66th year as a gathering place for the advancement of art in our community. The league has worked to support local artists and to be their showcase. We hope this year to resume offering a range of classes such as oil, watercolor, clay, gourds, and silk painting for adults and children. We also offer a scholarship to a deserving Belen-area senior, interested in art, from Belen High School, Infinity High School, or Home School.  Profits from our annual fundraiser support this effort. 

The Belen Art League traditionally holds annual spring and fall art shows, where artwork is displayed and judged. These events have been held at the historic Harvey House Museum. Artist's works are displayed year-round at the Belen Art League Gallery and Gifts. The vast majority of items displayed are for sale. The displays change so be sure to visit us often to see what is new here!
