July Debra Kik
Deb grew up on Long Island. Picking up a crayon at age 4, she got plenty of encouragement from family. When "go to your room" was punishment, she didn't care because she had paper, crayons and colored pencils. Growing up, she won many art awards starting in 8th grade. She started college as a theater major, then switched to marine Biology. Moving to Michigan and ending up with a degree in Biomedical Communications. She ended up with a job as a medical Photographer and Illustrator. While working as a newspaper photographer, raising a family and involved in theater, she started taking many art classes. That's when painting theater sets became a passion. In 2006, she moved to Key West Florida and quickly became involved in the art and theater communities. She worked in an art gallery, exhibited in 3 galleries and had a show entitled, "Bitches, Dogs and Drag Queens". Theater involved acting, stage managing, set design and set painting. 2018 brought her to Belen, New Mexico with a whole new world to paint. The beauty of the scenery here has endless possibilities and there is no end to what can be put on canvas.
