WHAT ART MEANS TO ME    by Kyle Lucero
Art is many things, but for me, it’s endless possibility. There are so many things I have made as an artist and there is still so much left to create. I have been creating art for as long as I can remember and it has grown to be the hobby I love the most. There are so many ways one can create art and so many forms it can take. Over the years as an artist, I have worked with spray paint, acrylic, pencil and marker. Each medium was unique to work with. I have enjoyed working with markers the most. I have created original creatures, landscapes, a mural, and doodles which have helped my creative thinking evolve. All the creations have helped make me into the kind of person I am. When I was younger, I tried to draw things exactly as they were, but later realized that’s not me. I learned to see the world differently and eventually developed my own style I realized art is a way to express creativity. Nothing is impossible when you draw. If you can dream it you can draw it. I like to capture emotion in my work, which means I like to recreate feelings or experiences using art. Art is something that can allow surreal imagery no matter how strange or impossible. Nothing one creates is limited by reality. It’s amazing how much I’ve grown and improved as an artist. Trying new things and creating original work has been a wonderful experience. My odd way of thinking has led to some of my best creations which are unique. The best part of my creations is that it was fun making them which is true with any passion. Over time my interest was sparked to design characters and build on their worlds and personalities. My ideas just kept growing and improving over time. The best things I created were from new ideas sparked by pervious characters. My experience while creating characters has inspired me to take on film making, an art form foreign to me, as a career. The characters I created have inspired me to make more and to create stories about them based on my experiences. There is still so much I could create and I look forward to what I will do in the future. The real beautiful thing is that no matter how many things I create I will never run out of possibilities. As I come to the end of my final semester at Belen High School, the COVID-10 pandemic has cut my semester short and the celebrations will be postponed. I am reminded how all forms of art is what people are turning to and that has solidified my career choice to seek a film degree to bring art to everyone when they need it the most.
